The Rewind Series 8 Cylinder

Pulled from barns and paddocks throughout NSW, the RS8 begins life as a timed out and loved out Series 2. From there we take stock of the dire situation, and start the creation of a modern cruiser. Built not to ignore the past, but to bring these beauties up to a standard to enjoy day in day out. Still no power steering, mind, as half the charm of these rides is that they do take rhythm and nuance to drive, but with soft springs, disc brakes, a 5 speed manual and a V8, the rhythm is not quite the trial it once was.

Process

Stripped to the bones for a complete ‘as new’ rebuild. Rewind Motor Co. procures the base vehicle, every component is attended to and either reused or replaced, new bespoke parts added then reassembled to an extremely high standard.The RS8 will feature assemblies from renowned Australian and global suppliers dedicated to high quality craftsmanship. From a galvanised chassis and firewall, hand crafted leather interior, a durable and high quality paint finish, the restoration is time consuming, process driven and extremely rewarding.

Power

The RS8 is powered by the age old, naturally aspirated 3.9 Litre Rover V8, matched to the robust R380 5 Speed manual transmission. The driveline is smooth, powerful within reason, unstressed and reliable, designed to stand the test of time.

The engine is installed as new after thorough machining, with uprated head studs, oil pump, pistons, exhaust, the list goes on. The transmission and all running gear is also as new, ensuring a capable driveline far beyond the current power level. Drivability and fit for purpose, the componentry is not just rebuilt, but completely resolved to produce an enduring and enjoyable experience.
